I had heard that the "M" series carbs were aimed at the US market for use with methanol (hence the "M") and subsequently they were machined using slightly larger diameter cutters as methanol needs a lot more fuel flow than petrol. Could be all b*llocks but certainly our MO runs richer and than any other of our carbs and we know of an M1 that's excellent.

I believe there have been quite a few batches that were from new tooling (A3, H5, 820 and a few others). Maybe the new carbs are as a result of new tooling ??
