If you're using the type that has a 90 - 100mm wheel, you could swap for a smaller wheel. Places such as Machine Mart stock various castors that use 50mm polypropylene wheels which slot straight in and work well (used one for 2 seasons with no probs). Since a 50mm axle needs only 10mm more from the centre line than a 30mm, reducing the easy start wheel by similar amount should do the trick.
