Personally, if I was chasing reliability over performance, I'd take teeth off the axle sprocket to reduce the revs and leave the jetting alone. The problem with richening the mixture is that it produces loads of carbon build up on the head, pistion, barrel and exhaust, some of which can be a real pain to shift (particularly in the barrel).
