I've run both.

Turning the idle screw round and fitting it from the opposite direction should allow you to open the butterfly sufficiently. A leaner low jet setting does help. I found it was a compromise between the kart pushing on when cold (rolling lap and 1st lap) and not cutting out when warm.

So it doesn't stall if you have a big lock-up or spin on the last lap.
