In TKM 4S Juniors we would change the axle from 40 -50 or vice versa between heats depending on changing conditions. Just as you would change setup and torsion bars etc. to suit the conditions.

Yes you do need it fully built up with brakes , bearings , sprocket carriers etc ready to drop in and go.
