I have been running 250 ml of oil per 5 litres of petrol in TKM for the last 11 years.

Do anywhere from 12 to 20 hours on an engine, rev them to 15K and have only ever had one engine failure in that time.

The engine will do it fine.

As for the original question Initally it does sound like low fuel.

As David said some tanks i have found need to be at least 40% full to stop fuel surging.
