It would be best to monitor the water temperature. Standard feature on alfarno or mycron, but the lead is expensive. You can run without one but if engine siezes you will always be asking the question on water temp. Tap water was the standard coolant. Unlike Rotax Max these motors were frequently changed and water dumped. If using a special fluid what would you do with it? Thermostatic control of water temp. to 50C
