Rotax say up to 50 hours between rebuilds but if you want to stay compeative you ideally need to get them rebuilt every 12 hours.

Cost depends on the company you use. HRS are about double the price of Grice but they are the current world champions so you would expect their service to be excellent (havent used them myself). A full rebuild including fiche at Grice is about Ł600 but at HRS it will be nearer Ł1000. Thats not including new barrels etc if you need them.

You should be able to get a good second hand engine for around Ł1000 - Ł1500. Make sure it has a dyno sheet that has a good power curve not just high BHP. But if you want a top engine like they use near the front at super one you will need to pay Ł5000+
