This and the other thread seems to have answered the question of why people chose different classes. It started about juniors, but it's the same for seniors. People choose mainly on which is the most popular at the track they are closest too, or the track they want to race at. I'm fairly new to karting so why some circuits became predominately TKM and others rotax is probably best left to the old timers to explain. I suspect however it has to do with politics, financial interests and luck rather then the technical issues of each engine.
