as i have said there are gear ratio/mph calculators online to work this out, but how do you know what the starting point is to select the gearing?
by working out the length?

surley factors like how fast you enter the straight and rpm when entering will play a factor in what gearing you put on as you are not accelerating from a standing start.

sorry if this all sound stupid.
