what sort of engine is this?
the springs should seal it fine

'jumps'? there should be a bit of play in the chain. about 15mm

new chains are a bit stiff sometimes.

remember to lube the chain with chainlube.

run the engine for a few mins and move the engine away from the axle a little to take up the initial stretch
