I always loosen the exhaust mountings slghtly as well and move them both to ensure the seal is maintained. If you leave the exhaust fixed, and then move the block away from it you may damage this seal and loose valuable exhaust pressure.

The whole process should only take 5 mins with the right tools.... good luck
