Thanks Ian, that's very helpful.

Would just spinning the back wheels mannually pull some fuel up into the crank, bearings etc without having to earth the lead to the plug?

How about running the fuel mixture a little too rich to give it more lubrication? would there be any other problems caused by doing this?

I fully intend to clean everything (incl carb) in due course, but this is really my first foray into kart maintenence, so wanting to take things slowly.

Are there any good guides on how to do this stuff? I'm thinking of ordering "Maintaining the Max" anything else i could get?
