Sinky, you're spot on with your point!
Old engines used to cost around £12-1300+vat new, now min £1750+vat, on top of that the reportedly faster 09 barrel has effectively rendered any pre-09 barrelled engine worthless!

My engine is only 5hours from its 1st rebuild and technically I'd have to go spend another £700+vat minimum to get it anywhere near the front end or to get any money for it if I wanted to sell.

JAG have effectively condemned all the pre-09 generation engines to "hobby engines".

I haven't done a race yet this season, preferred to mechanic and get the occasional drive in my driver's outfit. Aside for the finances I simply can't be asked.

The new barrel was certainly a recession busting measure for Rotax, but nothing for the customers.

I mark the beginning of the downturn with the move from SL7 to SL6, it has been going downhill ever since, not just with the tyres but everything, the old clutch seemed to be made of cheese, the plastic gears made of butter, new clutch won't run unless full to brim with grease, SL6's are as consistent as my granddad's 1st world war stories!

If they're trying for own goal, the training is paying off already!

Dan
