yes, as stated, check coil wires, particularly blue one, also, we've had a frayed and loose earth strap which caused no end of trouble before spotted, and believe it or not, its not just us thats done this, but we have put pulse pipe on carb wrong way round to fuel line without thinking, and wouldnt fire in same way you describe....check all these, , its got to be one of those surely, good luck, were at hooton if nay troubles, tkm 46
