Doing a lot of testing at the weekend on our Senior Max to get the carb right, I changed the main jet and forgot to blow in the breather to push fuel through. I started it up and the revs started to climb on their own. I looked and saw no petrol in the fuel pipe so I waited a short while for the motor to pull the fuel through but it didn't and carried on revving. So, we switched the ignition off... but it carried on running and revving higher. By this time panic was starting to set in so I pulled the HT lead off. It carried on running and revving higher still. In blind panic mode now, one of the guys we were with pulled the lead off the battery. It still carried on running and revving! In desperation, I yanked on the brake which finally stopped it! I bled the fuel through and its ran fine ever since. Now, I know there isn't a massive build up of carbon in the head - in fact, piston crown and the head are pretty clean so I am now assuming the plug tip got hot which is why it kept running - any other suggestions?
