Al, I suspect the increase to 100ml is due to 2 facts:

1. Being metal gears there's likely to be higher heat dissipation needed (hopefully not as that is drain of power); and
2. The metal gears are much thinner and therefore there's less sloshing/throwing so less lubing.

That's my take on it having just replaced a set myself. There's certainly more room for the oil in the box and most of the gears that can throw it are at the top (water pump and the transfer gear).
