Alan,

Whilst I accept your account of what Vic Parrot said, it’s the way in which you, or Vic, said it that’s misleading.

The MSA have a duty through there officials to police this sport and ensure were they can, that the rules are complied with.

Here are the rules related to the new clutch as I currently understand them.

1. The kart must start to move with the driver seated when the engine revs are at no more than 3000rpm.

2. None of the parts of the clutch must be modified in any way.

3. The existence of oil or grease inside the clutch drum or on the clutch element is not in itself a reason for technical disqualification.

Now there is a world of difference between compliance with the three points above and “…….following a directive from the MSA, they would not be examining clutches” which is a total abdication of the MSA responsibly as described in the Blue Book.
