Ian..i think you've missed the reason why I asked the question in the first place. I asked my original question as an interested engineer wanting to know about the principles on which it operates and not because I wanted to compare it with existing methods of power measurement. I agree that if you can accurately measure power on the track then thats got to be the best way to do it. As you suggest, its a great way of measuring changes you've made to the engines set-up and for that reason I would probably buy one.
