if i can add my 2 cents worth, i havent been karting for long but ive been marshalling at hooton this year and on the long circuits for 8 years before that. theres a few simple things that can be done to help the swift running of a meeting, alot of which boils down to racers and pit crew. there were several times on sunday when we had to delay the start of a race or practice because drivers werent ready in time, so please yet your helmets on and bum in seat quickly! secondly i agree that picking up karts takes the most time, both the track and pit crews can help this. the track could put in a few more access areas, one behind the new hairpin down to the last corner and into the pits would be good so you can just put the kart over the tyre wall and the team can pick it up at their own leisure. another thing is that if your kid has broken down then dont wait till the end of the race to get your troley ready, go to the nearest access point as quickly as pssible and be prepared to run! or if he is on the far side of the circuit think about whats the quickest way across, if you can get to him without crossing the track then make your way around before the end of the race..will jus speed things up abit. anothe rone is starts....ok not always the drivers fault but again on several occasions we had to do 2 roling laps because the tail enders werent with the pack or karts were started late (sometimes unavoidable though with technical issues). i think it just needs a bit more cooperation between track and racers just to fine tune everything a bit. the track could help with starting practice on time too.
