The motoplat is well worth looking after. I prefer it to the PVL and have them on my race engines. be aware that you cannot get replacements any more so look after the coil as that is most likely part to fail.

The coil will fail if the plug cap is taken off the plug when the engine is running or by not grounding the coil through the plug (onto the head) when rapidly turning the engine over to check for a spark or similar.

Stator mouinting bolts are standard metric allen bolts (M5 I think) which you can get from any bolt stockist.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say regarding setting the timing as you only need to slacken the bolts off to be able to turn the stator.
