A white plug usually indicates you are running too lean, this is supported by your statement of choking it helping but there are many other factors that could have caused that particular jet to cause the engine to sieze on that particular day (atmospheric conditions etc)
Was there any peppering on the plug or the top of the piston (what you can see)?
