Take NO notice of John's and my bickering. We do it ALL the time like elderly husband and wife..... he wears the dress and curlers, though!

Please note, although I AM biased about certain kart engines, I was careful NOT to bias you in FAVOUR of one.... you will have THAT done to you by those who make their LIVING from them.... Just take it as read: when someone tells you: ' all engines are equal in our class' they are LYING to you!

The easy way to be SURE of this is to look at the differences in price between a KNOWN quick engine and a 'standard' one! The bigger the difference, the bigger the POWER differences (or the bigger the stupidity of the BUYER!).

However, simply go and SEE some races....exactly as I advised you. The second sight to note is the relative 'wealth' (or willingness to borrow!) of the teams involved in each class. If you choose a class where LOADS of people arrive in £100,000 motor-homes whereas another class arrives with karts on roof racks of old bangers... then you MIGHT just be able to extimate the likely resources of those who you will be UP against in each class!

What I am saying is choose a class where the people racing them are MOST like you. If you ARE rich... choose the class with LOADS of Motorhomes (er.... Moron-homes) (etc.), if not.... AVOID that class!

....TKM is best......

(Oh damn.... that just slipped-out.... tee hee!)

In all honesty, if you are over 12 stone, then TKM may NOT be the best class for you! But there are LOADS of other classes OTHER than TKM and Rotax.... see what is RACED near you!

Ian
