I know that MSA clerks can send an SMS to some automated system to confirm that there is a licence and I beleive that it has some data on it, but obviously this is only as good as the data input and the person doing it.
I know that £50 is a proper kick in the ribs, but it is a kick that is easy to avoid.
Do the photocards get taken off drivers when they are banned? if so then this could be a reason for showing them, as with all admin it might take some time for penalty points to get onto a system. Say you are banned on the saturday, then race on the sunday elsewhere - sorry I lost my licence, banned driver then gets on track.
Just a worst case senario
