Yes I realise that the ring can only go on the piston in one position.
Perhaps my question should be how do you know which way round the piston goes on the rod? Or is it just that the ring locating pin should face forward? Because I really cannot see any other marks to indicate otherwise? And why does it matter which way around the piston goes as it appears to be symmetrical to me? Although I now guess that this is not the case if there is indeed a direction!?
And if it is simply that the ring gap should face forward, what is the theory behind this?? I notice that on the 100cc piston for the BT82, both ring gaps are in different positions again!
I apologise if my questions seem stupid or that there is an obvious answer i've missed, I've only my the kart a short while and this will be its first rebuild. I've tried to search for as much information as possible before asking questions so that I understand the reasons behind certain aspects, but this is one area where I have not found any information.
Thanks, Andy
