Adrian,
follow the link at the bottom. it will take you to the karting magazine website where there is a video in the shop section for the "maintaining the max" dvd. fortunately the preview clip that they have on there is the chapter for the balance gears.
the video only goes through the dismantling of the gears but if you have a close look at it you should be able to reassemble your gears.
be sure to line the gears up properly. i'll try to explain this as best i can.
1. make sure the scribe line on the crank shaft (the lowest of the rotation points)is lined up with the scribe on the gear - there is also a scribe line on the casing (in the form of a traingle) these all need to be in line with each other. this gear goes on so that the raised surface is facing outwards
2. the scribe line on the end of the balance shaft (top left) must again be lined up with that on the plastic gear and also with the little point that sticks out from the casing directly above. this gear goes on with the surface that raised surface is facing inwards. (make sure that everything is still aligned properly at this stage!!!).
these are the important parts to get right. the rest of the compnents go on easily and you can figure that out from the video clip (link below)
sorry if i haven't explained this very well but i hope it helps
