Benn.... many TKM-ers fit new rubber for EACH race weekend. That costs around Ł115.... they are NOT doing that for fun! New rubber SHOULD make a difference! If you are on pace for the race times, then expect to be QUICKER than your colleagues when you replace the rubber.

My impression was always that the tyres were WELL shot by the 3rd useage! Our experience was that they were at their best on the VERY first use (i.e., often the 3 laps practice on race day!) and that they deteriorated rapidly from there.
