Jordan... one advice that Ian did forget to give was to read through the past threads here before you ask a question.

I can guarantee that whatever question you have about karting IT HAS been asked at least 10 times in the past. (I'm being kind with number 10!)

These pages really are a goldmine of information, if only people read it more rather than trying to dive straight in with a basic question.

There are team owners, manufacturers/resellers/sealers, club chairmen and an enormous number of MSA and non-MSA race drivers who contribute to these pages. The advice is absolutely fantastic and totally free! Read a little bit ahead and you'll see that what Ian advised in his reply above is true. You'll also get to learn which track is nearest to you, elsewhere on the website you'll find information about where the tracks are, websites etc. which will tell you what classes are raced and which weekend of the month, when are they open for general testing, etc. etc.

Don't take us wrong, we love nothing better than helping a newcomer enter our hobby and more importantly: stay as long as he/she can afford or can be bothered! But we do get occasionally a bit ratty when the said newcomers don't do a bit of research as well themselves!

So read first, ask later and visit a track as soon as you can.
