Rebuilds for blue are exactly the same as TKM or Rotax ....20 hours.

However, like all engines if you race them close to the edge that goes down.

Good practice seems to be to do a total service and hone at about 500 laps (10 racedays or 5 meetings) and the crank at 2000 laps. What you replace when you do the services is "on condition". Clearly if you don't repalce the ring/piston then you may not do the hone.

One person turned in his engine for checking having raced 1700 laps with no servicing and was still getting places in the top ten.

Tyres again are a personal issue. Some people will use the tyres only for one meeting, others will run up to 10 heats or more before turning them into practice tyres! This is something of a regional issue as well, The further north you go, the less the tyres are reputed to last. Before now we have had drivers claiming tyres in Scotland only last a couple of heats before being very tired because of the more aggressive surfaces. Dunkeswell on the other hand is reputed to need only one set per season and Clay is reportedly quicker on slightly used tyres. Blues seem to eat the fronts faster than rears. However your mileage may vary.

Plus side is that the barrel is cast iron, so you get several hones before you need to replace the liner and a seize isn't ultimately fatal, and the carb is a Tilly, so you can adjust as you go.

There have also been some drivers who have lost their radiator fluid and been able to complete the race by treating the engine as an air-cooled.
