Luke. This is in response, not only to this question, but to all the other questions that you ask, not only on this forum, but on the others that I know you are familiar with.
You are trying to run before you can walk!! If you are serious about racing TKM at either MSA or NatSKA level, firstly you need to get yourself some decent up-to-date kit. As you have no idea what you are looking for, you need to ask someone who does to come with you, this will probably save you a lot of money. The chances of anything that would remotely pass as decent within your budget (you have already stated how much money you have), is extremely unlikely. You will, therefore, have to be patient and probably save up even more. Once you have got the kit that you need, you can then start asking questions, although I would suggest that you actually have a go at driving it first. At the moment, all of the questions that you ask are totally hypothetical and most, if not all, have already been asked on another forum, and have been answered.
When we are at our next NatSKA meeting, you can come and ask me as many questions as you like, but, in the meantime, try and concentrate on saving enough money to be able to buy your kit first.
