OK, so Honda cannot afford to race and the UK and worlds economies are crashing down around our ears. Max and the FIA are trying to dramatically reduce F1 costs while the AbKC and the MSA appear to be doing nothing to reduce the cost of completing in karting at club level.

All of this against the background of a British F1 champ who was karting just a few short years ago and the Let’s Go Karting investment made last year by the MSA.

What can we do? – Your ideas please!!!

I’ll start you off with; “Let’s cut the cost of Rotax Max tyres”

Now JAG and the trade will not be too pleased to hear that one, as contracts are no doubt in place and let’s be fair it’s a good income stream for them all. That said if numbers fall off next year then that’s no income at all!!.

How could it be done then?

Well simply by just switching to a harder tyre from the same manufacturers range, in this case say the Vega XLL, yes lap times will be slower but driver skills will need to be higher. Let super 1 say with the current tyre but give Club meetings the option to use the XLL.

So there’s your starter for 10, shoot me down, add your own ideas for other classes TKM, Blue, ICC, Honda etc

It’s your sport and your money!
