Good point but even after finding a level of competence i still decided on the clutch route as i wanted to make every heat count and get the most enjoyment from my racing and it helped me do that by simply allowing me to rejoin quicker and get back in the mix and get a better result after a misdemeanour. And as i was never really a front runner i took a more consistent approach to my racing and it helped with that too.

I did buy a dd sprocket and did back to backs on the same motor and didn't see enough of an improvement if any to stick with dd. This was mainly because I was putting all the money i could into it and wanted every heat to count and i knew with a spin on a dd and a spin on a clutch i would always be better placed with the clutch. It definitely worked for me.

Having said all that i think TKM wether clutched or unclutched is the best karting class around and one of the few remaining classes were you can still be genuinely competitive on a shoe string.
