I was dd when i first started and the amount of heats i came trundling in last due to an error or being punted off was soul destroying. I fitted a clutch and this minimised the damage done when spinning off or being involved in an accident. In other words it was far quicker to stay in the kart keep the revs up and pull back onto the circuit. A far quicker process than pushing the dam thing. So instead of trundling in last i could still end up getting a decent finish and as you know your heat positions go towards your final grid position. That for me was the evidence i needed to stay on a clutch for a while as i was getting far more bangs per buck with one than without one.
