thats a good point you can race Lydd when he is 7.
For your first kart you made a good choice, we ran a 2014 Zip eagle for 2 years and my son did nothing but progress on it.
Like I said above get it jigged by someone who knows what they are doing, we had not had a big shunt in ours, just normal track use and the whole front had raised by a whopping 12mm, and the rear right chassis leg was 3mm up, which made it handle like a dog, its well worth a trip to Global Karting, as they really know the Zips well.
Run the front with 20mm per side for a beginner, perhaps a castor kit too, just to give him plenty of grip to start with, also last years LS3 tyres will give him more grip = more confience, and like Ben said, go and enjoy yourselves, but be safe!
