Back in July I bought a 2nd-hand honda chassis from a dad & lad who retired from S1 honda-cadet through utter disbelief about what was going on with the big teams in S1.

he was adamant that when they started to beat the top teams and were in the regular top 5, feathers were seriously ruffled at the big teams as they were a dad-and-lad....god forbid!....the dad in question was adamant that a phone call was put into the engine builder from the big teams along the lines of....."we are spending all this money with you, therefore we expect top engines".....then mid season a huge step change was made in the big teams performance, and all of a sudden the dad-and-lad were up against a glass ceiling, could not compete and just threw the towel in and moved up a class to juniors, he is winning again already......says something.

For sure there is a lot of speculation in the above statement, as there are many variables, perhaps on the other side of the coin the big teams had found a chassis advantage that just appeared as an engine gain???......but the lad is 8loody quick and won numerous club championships in cadets, hence I'm inclined to believe the cadet engine builders do sway to the teams big cheque books, but they will never ever admit it.....nothing new here

I have worked in the professional race engine design and development industry for a living in the past, and I have witnessed utter packs of lies told to BTCC privateer and manufacturer teams by the engine companies, it DOES happen!......money talks at the end of the day and engine builders ARE two-faced.......been there, seen it, done it.
