ZIP hollow shaft stub axles - do they do anything?

i have been running a set of ZIP hollow-shaft stub axles on our 2014 eagle Honda, but I'm now convinced they are robbing us of front end grip on the twisty circuits we race on at Buckmore & Bayford. I have just swapped them over to the solid type but wont be able to go testing for 3 weeks.

would appreciate if anyone has any guidance on what they are really supposed to do, I have heard conflicting stories:

1) they are for really bumpy tracks, and make the kart less twitchy...... but that could be every track if your working the kerbs!

2) they don't make any difference.

Any experiences welcome from Iame or Hondas.
