Tricky one. If the initial quote had been Ł25 inc. p&p would you have gone ahead then? I would be surprised if the compressor was more than 20 years old the rings would be held in store but be sourced from local (UK) manufacturer/ stockist.
Stuff from China is stupidly cheap, but not always of good or any quality quality. I have a pile of junk Chinese gear that worked for a while but a part failed not to be able to be replaced. An example, Garden lights where the electrical connections made with a glue gun, not soldered.
