One final (from me) post on this subject: Personally, I think it's pretty obvious that a good fitting and designed neck brace will help protect against whiplash type injuries. I'll admit there's more contention about whether they prevent/reduce injury in more serious rollover type shunts but whilst reasurch is mixed about how effective they are, there is very little to surgest they could cause harm. Indeed, what little negative reasurch that there is, relates to transferring the injury elsewhere I.e. collar bone. If this is, instead of a neck injury, I think most people would take it! Yes, karters do seem to graduate away from there use, as they get older and whilst true their necks are probably getting stronger, it probably has more to do with a perception, that they're not cool. Finally, they only have a chance of working, if they complement the helmet being used, Bell helmets used to be very deep at the front, which won't work with some styles. My lad's Arai works very well with the 360 plus but his old helmet didn't work with a standard foam ring, until I cut the foam a little to prevent it 'jacking' the helmet up. All I'm saying is, you have to consider, helmet and neck brace as a safety system and they have to work with the physiology of the driver.
