Mike G - I was just using the numbers as a comparison to how ridiculous Rotax has gone........Apparently if your an S1 Honda cadet winner, people offer you 5K for your winning engine, back in the comer-cadet days engines were changing hands for £10,000 and more, now thats ridiculous.
5K is top end money for an S1 wining Honda cadet motor, certainly I wouldnt pay that for one...... in reality an absolutely astonishing Honda SP cadet engine can be found for a mere £3000, and would have originally been purchased for approx half that when brand new.......my point being £1500 for a new Honda cadet engine is in approx in-line with what you can expect to pay for an Iame, X30 or Rotax when its new, like £1000-£2000 ish.
As for lawn mower engine, not quite ........its just knob-head dads that think the engine is the reason a certain kid won, so the logic being if they buy that winning engine for £5000 they will be a winner too......its utterly comical, but people believe and do this.......good engines are worth tenths of seconds, good drivers are worth several seconds, hence I bias our funds more towards driver tuition, and I must say its working a treat.
