The problem with IKR is that it is a label used to represent two different things.

On the one hand it is used to represent karting without the structure of the MSA, and on the other it is used to represent an alternative, advertised as 'better', to the structure represented by the MSA.

Now I have little problem with the idea of IKR as representing unstructured karting. That covers almost everything from free practice through to races under your local club rules, which for example includes corporate events.
There are advantages such as not needing a licence, medical, the expense of 'compliancy' and so on.

But when IKR is used to describe a parallel structure to the organised meetings of the MSA, but still touting the advantages of non-compliancy then we are wandering into the realm of political licence. In a thread earlier this year I pointed out that the claims of IKR as inherently cheaper and less regulated than MSA racing were not supportable in the long run. In fact those proposing IKR in that debate are already agreeing with the arguments that it is not supportable. As soon as you wish to have inter-club level-playing-fields, then the same need for a licence, the same need for class rules and the same need for agreed, minimum acceptable standards arises.

Any benefits in terms of cost become academic, being based on an imaginary efficiency of any replacement organisation. Which is where the similarity between the IKR activists and UKIP can be drawn.

So, when we get to the meat of this thread, we need to identify the purpose of the MSA magazine. Is it to represent the activities of licence holders in proportion to their numbers, to print exactly 8.91 pages on karting regardless of the content or is it to represent the activities of the MSA in support of motorsport generally? If there is an article on "Sponsorship", or "Fitness" or the progress of the various academies, should we assign percentages of value, like assigning fixed cost overheads and cost centre: profit centre differentiation in company accounts?

Picking up on simplistic ideas like the number of pages related to number of licence holders is simply an extension of the current malaise of Style not Substance in wider politics. Why should it be the number of licence holders and not the relative monetary return of the sport involved, I have a near neighbour who is involved in high end car racing. His expenditure on tyres at one meeting is the equivalent of my entire karting tyre budget. He could very well argue for greater representation.

The downside of this thread is that newcomers to the sport may be unduly influenced by the attitudes shown, not realise that they are no more trustworthy than the promises made by political parties, particularly those seeking power.

We know that there are changes that many of us think would be beneficial to 'karting' and threads like this may reflect the frustration that is felt when those plans are not adopted. There is of course a caveat. Despite the frequency that people claimed that 'there were too many classes', the simplistic call to eliminate them has resulted in the 2017 proposals. I haven't actually found a single person who thinks that they will produce a beneficial environment for karting or increase the number seeking licences.

One has to be careful what one wishes for!
