The ABkC asked the MSA for clarification if the change in rules applied to karting, answer was no, that was for cars, karting had its own rules which had not changed. MSA issued some guidelines but that hasn't really cleared up use of kerbs (whether outside or inside any white line (or Rowrah with no white lines). Personal opinion - leaving kerbs aside putting a wheel over a white line is a breach, more than one breach gives rise to a warning, more than that to possible penalties. Probably still need guidelines on kerbs from MSA, my personal opinion and I am not a Clerk, is that use of most kerbs is ok so long as a wheel does not go right over the kerb. Again my personal opinion is that we made a mistake at Shenington by painting the white line all the way round and not leaving a gap where kerbs could be used without penalty. If the white line stopped where use of kerbs, say on exit of corners, was permitted and white line continued where a kerb or edging was not permitted would that not solve the problem?
