honda cadet - why use mustard rear rims only?

My first post here, be gentle with me!......When I look closely a the super-one and london-cup honda-cadet kart races on you-tube, I see some of the front running karts are using the mustard rims on the rear only, which I believe are a magnesium rim.......am I right in thinking this is to better manage the rear tyre temperature in hot weather conditions? or perhaps something else?.......I believe the mustard rim is also a wider rim than the 130mm that is now commonly used in honda-cadets, but how wide is it?......just curious
