OK so that's your experience and as it was.

Inevitably some of the following will have played a part in your "experience":
1) Drivers being of more mature age (children are now the majority).
2) Karts having very limited grip and virtually none on lap one.
3) Metal bumpers so any contact was not cushioned
4) Drivers driving with a non contact mentality.
5) Karts at least 25% narrower so the effecive usable line was 50% more.
6) Drivers funding themselves so they had a vested interest not to crash and damage their kit.

Even with modern karts I can see the logic why a fast start followed by a fast corner will give less accidents. Fear and self preservation are still relevent factors. But whilst there may be less incidents invariably the ones you do get are more serious due to the ingedient SS would control - "excess speed".

As for Rissington it's a great track but not immune from major first corner shunts as I witnessed last year.
