I guess part of my point is this ... We shouldn't really need to be discussing this here. There are v good reasons why this could have been brought in but it should have been publicised on a clear up to date website so everyone knows what is going on and why it is necessary.
Personally I think 5 mins is way too short. As discussed give everyone 60 sec to get out of the gate. Qualifying is crucial for the weekend so, if there are no track time reasons, it should be a decent length. But I don't mind being told otherwise ;)
