its the problem of using a Ł400 pound motor in racing at a high level.
Its a great idea to get into karting and start out but you really should be looking towards a "race spec" engine if you want things a little closer when rules restrict tuners doing much to even things up without playing mecarno with loads of parts to find the best ones.

the GX160 is a generator....at what point does a company producing said engine care about 0.1hp or the tollences produced...if it drives a cement mixer for 3 years without being serviced its done its job.

Thats the main problem. even BRP don't see the rotax max as a proper race engine, and you can tell this when you look at the finish the warranty etc.
When you start racing these types of motor at a high level thats when it all goes wrong as there are too many restrictions in place with the rules that had the intention of cutting costs.

If you allow more openness within the rules. no ones cheating no ones playing the purchase roulette of getting a good motor. you get your motor you have it Fiche'd and off you go, the better turners get more work, rather than the turners with the customers with the largest wallets.

Im not to sure what all this timing stuff is, but if you take away the restriction, then surely it will benefit everyone, as mistakes in scrutineering can't happen and everyone has the opportunity to set the timing to whats best for them.

I just think we over complicate things and people get branded cheats just because of over the top scrutineering.

Just my opinion as i think there are way to many rules in life generally.....So i tend to pick and choose the ones i feel are reasonable :-)
