The problems come because SuperOne or any championship for that matter does not operate in a vacuum.
First, one has to have a track that can take a championship event.
If that means that the track has to be available Thursday and Friday for practice, then the track has to clear its schedule.
Do the planning laws allow that kind of karting on those days. (Some tracks are limited to 4stroke, commercial karts during the week for example).
Does the track have other commitments. Some track owners point out that they can make more money from a single commercial event on the Saturday than the whole four days of a SuperOne (people arriving on Thursday through to leaving on Sunday).
People who are going to complain are going to complain more over the perceived inconvenience of a crowded car park, extra noise etc, especially if it has been shoehorned in as an extra weekend in addition to the barely tolerated club meetings.
Holiday time can be important to a track. It's when the kids get holiday treats, like a birthday party karting. People line up these treats, especially big birthady parties long in advance, maybe before SuperOne application forms come round looking for slots. Who wins, lucrative birthday party, less lucrative SuperOne. (Here I really mean "special" event, since most of the Clubman rounds take place within the format of a normal club race weekend)
Especially, who wins if the track notices that the club (often different animals) loses entries after having a SuperOne at the track, so holding a one weekend SuperOne means a fall in revenue through out the year. There's often a symbiotic relationship between club and track, with the track owners also keen on promoting club activities.
Increasingly clubs are hit with restrictions. Dunks for example has a limit on the number of events it can hold each year. Having a Superone means that the club has to give up a round. See the paragraph above.
Clubs also have staffing problems. If the club/ track has told everyone they can have a holiday in August, then they cannot accept a Superone round that requires them to provide marshals, club officials etc. If the local medical service planned to have a restricted service in August, it's no good the club planning a meeting where they will need extra medical cover...unless the competitors in the event are willing to pay extra to have the support brought in privately.
The various championships and events are already making their provisions for 2015, so it isn't simply a 'no brainer' to shift the meeting from term time to non-term time or a Bank-Holiday weekend. One is often extremely limited in what one has been offered, rather than picking from an unlimited number of convenient opportunities.
But then raceinstructor, who has experience in the area has already said that before in this thread, why don't you believe him?
