Can't you see all these threads literally and metaphorically coming together? More and more talk of super quick engines, possibly illegal, and huge budgets for the privileged rich kids at the front end.
For the second time Germany is on the verge of claiming the greatest driver of their generation, while all the UK can do is produce a succession of nearly men. Spot the connection? Who's to blame?
Personally I put it squarely at the door of the old boy network in the MSA and few influential money men in karting who suck the enthusiasm and money out of all but the richest parents.
Now from outside the sport, it's a clear 'no brainer' that the only way forward is buy back in every under 18's class at club level and pool engines in every class at national level. This is the only way that the sport (if it can still be called that) can start to redeem itself and start to find proper young talent for the future.
