Lewis Hamilton is to blame.....
Its so well documented that he was picked up from cadets by mclaren and had millions invested in him to get him into F1 that everyone thinks their little johnnie or jessie can be the next F1 champion - spend big in cadets, get picked up by a sponsor and you're in the big time.
Reality is that sponsors/scouts/etc don't look at cadets, they look to the older classes.
Unfortuantely you see kids with those "big" expensive engines who have no kart control or race craft who get results as they the power advantage.
One way to sort it is to make all cadets run a clubman only style with a limit on engine values, but there are too many people in the wrong positions who have vested interests in parents continuing to pour thousands of pounds into the next "big" engine to gain those extra couple of tenths.
Yes the next F1 drivers are probably out there on the tracks now, but they should be developed using racecraft and skill, not just the size of dad's wallet
