In my opinion open tyres is just a false economy and I think changing the weights is a ridiculous idea as just because a few people can get under the weight it doesn't mean everyone can so for the price of a couple of blocks of lead is it worth destroying fair racing and people may have an issue with buying lead but if you lower the weight limit think of the money the heavier guys will have to spend to loose the weight in lightweight parts you are talking 20 quid of lead vs 100s of pounds of lightweight parts also the more things IKR requires you to buy the harder it is going to be to tempt msa racers across which is ultimately where the grid has to grow from if you want proof that this technique works look at ellough which is getting 20 plus on the grid in senior rotax many of whom have come across from msa
