Bit of a catch 22, in that people don't enter as grids are small, grids are small as people do not enter.
Take Forest Edge as an example, when we brought in online entries 3 years ago people thought certain grids were small, but could not be further from the truth in that many did not and still don't enter online but use good old fashioned postal entries.
3 years on, Rotax Senior is full at 34 racers this year, 177 heaving, Hondas busting at the seams, but we put Comers and IAME together, also JTKM with Minimax with one grid running 200 metre first, this gives track time, everyone gets 3 heats and a final but we save on time by not running 5 karts on their own. For the "mixed" grids they still get involved with other classes but it seems the only viable option?
So back to original aspect, ring Comp Secretarys and they will know what expectation on grid size, we keep online system open to midnight on the Tuesday before the race, then a quick turnaround of the program with the printers to try and get everyone in.
